Help in developing anti-spam solutions

Iam working on a project to filter messages recieved on email
as spam or ham.
what are the requierments needed to make the software run
on such messages ?
( i.eDo i need web server,server,or nailserver ) ??

Is this over a network or for a single computer? What email client are you using and what OS are we talking about. Need the details to help.

i use windows XP

If this is an actual "project" , then I think you want to start here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_filter). Dig through that for some quality information.

If your looking to block spam on just a single computer a simple Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=email+spam+filters&btnG=Google+Search)search will yield over a dozen good and some free spam filters. Or you can go with router method (http://www.barracudanetworks.com/ns/?a=google-spamfirewall-spamfilter&kw=email+spam+filters&gclid=COvxn8e4wpECFSG8Ggod7DbNCw&L=en) which is a much less processor friendly on the client side.
