Thanks in advance/ G.Gordon 11-18-2001, 01:54 AM The satellite service(s) are provided by the ISP/ASP which in turn either own the satellite or purchase use of the "bird". They also provide you with the physical connection (modem, dish and installation) and the software necessary to connect your computer (or network) to their services. The only legal way to use satellite services is to pay the vendor(s) subscription fee to receive the hardware and software. (and it is not offered in all parts of the world...yet). Service and speed are "OK" most of the time on all the systems I've used. Wouldn't use it for "must-be-up 7/24". So, you want on the "bird", take out your wallet like the rest of us ($600-$1000 front cost and $40+ monthly fees)and you too can "fly". Otherwise it's copper for you till the price comes down. Been "up-there" for over a year. I didn't mind the price as I am **REMOTE** with no chance of any other kind of broadband and it's bleeding edge... good for conversation at the coffee shop. Cool, now the coffee shop is wireless. I'm in the USA, where is Somewhere? Glad to hear it's on the planet. :=) ------------ OUEDRAOGO Marcel at 7/20/2000 4:50:28 PM I'm somewhere in the world and want to be connected and use sattelit connection as simple user and not pay so expensive.
