Suddenly my RAS server is acting up. When a connection is made domain credentials are required, however, after disconecting and redailing only the initial dailup logon is required. It seems to being going off of a previous logon. I changed the auto disconnect to one minute but this still occurs hours later. With out validation logon scripts are not run and access is being denied when the boss tries to pull in his networkmail from the internet. The problem is resolved if you indicate 'close all programs and logon as a different user' but this is time consuming and wasnt required previously. P.S. The clients are W95 users.
Thanks for your time.

See Q article 193937
When you dial up from a remote location with a computer that contains a PC Card network adapter, but is not currently connect to the LAN, Win95 checks for the presence of a network adapter. If one is found, it attempts to logon to the Windows NT domain, when you first log on. It does not care if it was successful, it will log you on to the domain only once during your Windows session. This happens prior to dialing. The user will normally see the message “ No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not be able to gain access to some network resources.” This is correct. You have not dialed up yet. When you do connect through dial up, because your session in Windows is already started it will not prompt you again. When NT sees your presence in the Domain, it has no way to notify you that your password expired, or provide your login script because your Windows session already began. if you disconnect your Dial-Up Networking connection and then later reconnect without either restarting Windows or logging off and logging on again as a different user, Windows does not repeat your domain logon
and does not process your login script again. Again, no way to notify you that it expired.
With more users having portable systems and remote desktops from home offices that are not attached via a NIC to the LAN . It would be wise for a dial-up (undocked) profile to exist on these systems.

This may appear as a Server problem, but it is really the way users are trying to connect, and not realizing that a different profile should be created and used.

In other words, what Dawes is saying is that you need to create a "Networked" and a "Dialup" hardware profile and disable the network card in the Dialup profile so that it doesn't look for or find the card.
