After installing the two NICs, each of them with IP addresses of the two different segments you are trying to communicate, you have to go to the TCP/IP configuration window, the routing tab, and check packet routing

Richard:

If you still need an example, email me and I'll send you a procedure with screen shots.

Hi Richard

I recenlty attempted to do the same. Having got it up and running I then discovered on the Microsoft web site that this is not a supported configuration. There was actually a tech document (don't have the reference no handy) that specifically said that NT was not to be used as a bridge between two physical networks, even though it was capable of doing so.

All the best

I used this configuration for about a year. There were a couple of initial headaches but, on the whole, it worked well. The constant need to reboot NT was a bit of an impediment ... router goes down, network goes down, etc.

I recently decided to build a router out of a P75 that was lying around. A machine that I was thinking of giving away is now routing a la Linux. If you don't want to do a little head scratching, I'd use NT for what M$ suggests and leave routing / firewalling to the more stable OSes :-)

Good luck.
Trevor
